I have a Pentax Optio Photo and Movie Camara. I took it to Colorado and it stopped working. When I go to turn it on it powers up then turns off. The screen comes on and says Optio then the camara makes a noise and shuts off. I charged the batterey for 2 seperate nights and no improvement. Is my camara broken or as I am assuming the battery is no longer holding a charge?
It takes either a Li-ion 3.7v 1800mAh or apparently a CR-V3.
I have the crarger for the Li-Ion. Both of these batteries seem really expensive, like 50$ -$ 60 dollars or more. I have seen them for about $ 30 on Ebay but Im leary they are old or not real.
Would it be cheaper or better in the longrun to get the CR-V3 and a charger for that battery or will it charge on the same charger?(im assuming it wont use the same charger since it is 2 round batteries together in stead of a flat rectangle)
Where can I get cheap batteries?
Or would it be better to get a new basic digital camara that takes normal batteries?
I don’t believe using AA batteries is an option is it. Thats not what the camara has written on it. Are they the same as the CRV3? I thought my only options were the Li-ion or the cr-v3???
What are 33rd party batteries????

You could look for 33rd party batteries that normally cost a fraction of what the originals cost and I’ve had fairly good experiences with them too.
The CR-V3′s themselves are not that cheap and from what I recall, it has the same size as 2 AA batteries (the olympus E10 and 2100uz I had used either 2 CR-V3′s or 4 AAs). WIthout knowing the exact optio model you’re using I can’t advise on whether you can use the CR-V3′s or AA’s in it’s place.

(More customer reviews)I got one of these batteries with my camera. I made the mistake and thought it was rechargible. This is not a rechargible battery, it does have a long battery life, I brought it on 4 trips with me before it died. The problem with this battery is that it does not leave you with a lot of warning that it is going to die. The battery light flashes and the camera cuts off. Best to always pack a spare as you have no way of checking how much battery is left.
Do not leave the battery in the camera when and if you use the docking station as I have heard it will drain the battery.
